Romanesque Themed Benches, Pancras Lane, Central London.

These are benches I completed in oak for the City of London in collaboration with City and Guilds of London Art School.

The site is on the same as the remains of a thirteenth century church razed to the ground by the Great Fire of London in 1666.  The brief was to design themes in a style of carving that would refer to the Romanesque period in remembrance of the church that was previously there

Below are some details from my bench designs for 2 large sections, comprising of some 36 separate pieces.

They are for public view and use in Pancras Lane near Bank Underground Station in Central London.
